Directions from Somon to Kakurinbo

Somon (main gate)
Somon is the entrance to Minobusan. The temple area begins here. The area within the gate is known as “monnai.”

Nakamachi & Higashitani Sando
The Minobusan bus stop for local buses and the Chuo Express Bus from Shinjuku to Minobu is on the left side of the shopping street and the Nakamachi public parking space is on the right.

By car and on foot
To access Kakurinbo from Higashitani Sando, turn right into Nitcho-dori at the T-junction just after the Tenyodo pharmacy.

Kakurinbo vehicle entrance
At the top of the first steep section of Nitcho-dori is a sign reading “Kakurinbo Entrance.” Turn right here.

Nitcho-do
Pass the vermillion Nitcho-do temple on your left and continue down the narrow slope. Turn right at the bottom into the Kakurinbo parking area.

Kakurinbo pedestrian entrance
Before the first steep section of Nitcho-do is a sign on the right indicating the pedestrian entrance to Kakurinbo. Walk up the steep set of stone steps to the ornate temple gate at the top. Kakurinbo is just beyond the gate.
E-bike rental

Battery-assisted e-bikes are available at Kakurinbo. They are ideal for navigating Minobusan’s hilly terrain. The bicycles are fitted with baskets and bike racks.
For a leisurely few hours of sightseeing, we recommend a visit to Kuonji and other nearby temples or a cycle ride along Fuji River. There is a convenience store on the way to the river where you can buy food and drinks for a picnic.
